I teach 5th grade ELA/social studies to a diverse group of learners. My goal is to expose them to a diversified learning environment where they discover their voice, as well as becoming deep thinkers while discovering a love of reading and our history.
I teach at a 95% Native American, Title I school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch and many are part of the weekend backpack program.
We have 5 federal housing projects feed into our school, which makes up 80% of our population.
Our students are eager to learn and enjoy hands-on learning experiences.
My Project
My students need a reliable 3D printer and laptop to continue with their robotics/3d design program and add "Making" to their real life learning.
With these materials, I will be able to further implement bringing ideas to life.
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate, design, test and modify objects for projects as well as use the printer to create models to show what they have learned.
Students will be giving tasks to problem solve and be able to turn their ideas into reality. They will be given opportunities to learn from their mistakes and make improvements as they work through difficult tasks.
