This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Every child is an Artist" Pablo Picasso
My Art students range from kindergarten thru 4th Grade.
These kids love art and are very creative. I have some special students that come and volunteer in the art room to help with younger students. I have students that come and ask for extra art ideas to work on in their free time. These kids go above and beyond my expectations every day. Art impacts my students regardless of their background or situation.
My Project
I would like to give my students a feeling of history and a chance to learn a new art form that none of them have done before.
This classroom weaving loom will be used by every student in the school to create a collaborative art piece that will hang in our school for future generations to see and learn.
My students are inner city kids that have no experience with weaving or the arts. This loom and yarn will give them a new experience, becoming part of a larger school project, the sense of belonging and becoming a part of their school's history. Everyone can participate and the impact on my students will be immeasurable.
