I teach at a preK- 4th grade school. We are high free and reduced lunch.
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way that the child can learn." - (unknown author) This is my motto for my classroom.
This year I have a mixed ability group. I have students who have grasped reading skills at a faster rate than others and some who need a little more time. They are eager to learn. We are also a high diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
I have students who have access to technology while I have some who do not even have access to a computer. I want to bridge that gap in my room!
My Project
My school is pursuing becoming a Leader in Me School. I need materials to help educate myself in this curriculum. Leader in Me is a whole school transformation process that focuses on teaching students to take charge of their own education and life goals. I need these materials for me to understand how to implement the program so I can help lead these students down this path.
Leader in Me will help my school break a cycle of kids thinking they are not good enough.
This program will help our kids see that they have just as much to offer the world as anyone else. This program will help with our school culture and engage our classrooms by putting students in charge of their learning. Can you imagine a classroom full of student leaders who want to be there!?
The materials I am asking for are field guides to help prepare for the training. These field guides help align academics with the program and will help me to help my students set not only academic goals but lifelong goals as well. This program helps children remember and apply the habits to grow their abilities and confidence to become a leader. By helping with the project, you will help me to help my students.
