My students need materials to help them learn and grow. They can pretend to be whatever they want to be.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher, in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students come to class every day happy to be there, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I ask them, "What do you want to be" and they are excited to believe they can be anything they want.
I teach at a Title I school in Texas, where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Parents don't have much money and do the best they can. I want my students to have every advantage.
My Project
My students love to play with puppets and pretend to be someone else. They tell about who they think they want to be and tell the class who they are. With the Puppet Theater, they can tell their story and pretend to be whatever they want to be. They pretend to be a fireman, doctor, nurse and a teacher. They can tell you what that person does and what they would do if they were a doctor, nurse or what ever they can think of. Some want to put on a show for their parents or grandparents. They love to be someone special, and they are.
