Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a public elementary school in the Bronx, NY. We are located in one of the poorest congressional districts in the USA. My kids come to school eager to learn despite the many problems they face at home and in their community.
A former art teacher, I now teach 28 first graders. I know that art is important to the growth and learning of every child. I vowed that I would teach my new class all about painting, collage, and sculpture. But...no supplies. There's only so much you can do with crayons and copy paper!
Please help my class by donating paints, paper, clay, and other art supplies. Who knows, the next Picasso may be sitting in my classroom right now!
