We need shelves, box fan, plant pot hangers, outdoor timer power strips, and cables and outlets, automatic vent openers, and drip irrigation kits. All these are supplies for our greenhouse.
Wilson Early College Academy (WECA) is a public high school located in Wilson, North
Carolina that offers mostly first generation college students and at-risk students an opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate's degree with no out of pocket expenses in four or five years.
WECA has been an immense success with most students graduating and going on to a four-year university. WECA's Science department has big ideas and very little funding available. Students lead funded projects to support scientific investigations into areas of interest so that they can learn as big as they can dream!
With these supplies my students will be able to move forward and continue our greenhouse project. My students will b able to do hands-on activities and learn much from taking care of plants to the growth of them. Students will also get the experience of growing and caring and soiling seeds to grow plants. Also to teach responsibility and teamwork and what it takes to take care of a greenhouse.
In Their Own Words
To learn how to grow plants and what it takes and all the steps we have to go through to grow plants and care for them and watch them as they grow over time. Also to just bring students together as a team to do something together and have fun with it while also learning things.
Just like all the students involved with this project I will also be a big help and take much responsibility to help better the greenhouse. Also to keep it organized and really try and learn things from this project to share with others. Maybe to also encourage others to get greenhouses and learn more about plants and science.
I think its really great and many students will really be involved with this project and it will be a great experience for many students. They will be able to do a lot of hands-on activities and learn so much of plants and environmental science. They will be able to physically see the changes in growth and learn more through out this.
