Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each classroom has its authenticity, but I must share that my class is unique and full of diverse learners! When I think of my students, three adjectives come to mind: Curious, Determined, and Hardworking. Those three words, in my opinion, sum up the attitudes and personality traits of the twelve students I have been in contact with every single day since September.
They are sponges, ready to absorb new information by engaging in projects, activities, and challenges that paves a way for them to find solutions!
Like I previously stated, my classroom is made up of twelve students who are full of questions! Each student in my classroom is different. Each student is coping with their own set of challenges. Although their learning styles and teaching methods vary, each child in my classroom strives to obtain their personal and academic goals. They do not allow their disabilities to get in the way of their academic success.
I look forward to getting to work every morning, they are truly an incredible group! It is truly an honor and I am thankful for having the opportunity to work with a group of learners that are eager and excited about learning!
My Project
Students are struggling to express their ideas in writing, therefore, they need your help! My first-grade class is just figuring out how to use writing to convey their ideas. The material I have requested, allows students to explore words and sentences in a fun and engaging way. Using sight words to create sentences will allows students to get familiar with the words that they are already using in their day-to-day verbal conversations.
Students are eager to write their ideas; however, they are struggling with knowing how to spell the words they are thinking about.
By donating to our project you are giving my students an opportunity to expand their vocabulary through play. In addition, you are paving a way for students to increase their academic achievement by participating in engaging yet challenging activities.
I envision each activity I have selected as a different writing center in class. Through trial and error, I believe that once I have introduced the material, students will be able to explore and working independently to improve their writing.
I thank you so much for taking the time to consider our request and for helping our future leaders become great writers!
