My Students

"A good teacher is like a candle- it consumes itself to light the way for others"- Author Unknown. As a first year teacher in one of the poorest cities in America, I have seen firsthand how the lack of materials impacts learning. I want to be able to give my students the education they deserve.

I am a second grade teacher in CT.

I am currently in my first year of teaching in an urban school district. My school has made great achievements in academics and I hope to continue that trend in my second grade classroom this year and in the future. Teaching in a low-income city is difficult because my students do not have access to some of the materials and classroom learning opportunities that other students have. My students deserve all the chances that students in wealthier communities are given. By funding this project, my class will be given everyday materials as well as classroom spaces that support independent and group learning.

My Project

I am requesting supplies that are essential to providing a safe and meaningful learning environment in second grade. The book library will allow the students access to reading materials at their level during the day. Pencils, markers, crayons, and construction paper will provide opportunities for everyday learning. The classroom management tools will ensure a positive and stimulating learning environment for all students. The bean bag will create a comfortable reading spot in the classroom and the privacy shields will allow for private space and independent work as well. Your donation to my project will give my students supplies they need in order to have an fair education. Without your help I am faced with a challenge to provide my students with educational opportunities. Your funding will provide my students with the chance for a great future!

This project is important because my second graders deserve the world.

These students are our future and they need access to the tools and learning materials that are provided in middle and upper class school districts. Your donation will make a difference in the quality of education that my students will receive and any help will be greatly appreciated!
