My Students

Energetic, sophisticated and eager are just some of the words to describe my third grade kids. As standards are continually being raised and expectations are as high as ever, students are experiencing stressful situations at levels we haven't seen before.

We belong to a Charter School in Philadelphia which focuses on students' individual abilities.

We need to create comfortable, inviting centers to establish a connection with all different groups of students.

Our students often work in small groups to ensure we reach all of their learning abilities. They are often moved around the room to minimize distraction. Currently, they do not have access to flexible seating. I would love to add comfortable, inviting seating for students to work in small groups to maximize learning at each individual's level.

My Project

Flexible seating will be used in our classroom to work with students in small groups. Each student learns differently.

We love to work directly with students in centers around the room to focus on their individual needs.

In order to maximize learning, students need to be comfortable where they are sitting. In small groups, we usually sit on the floor. I would love to give my kids a comfortable chair or seat to sit on when working with me.

Some students work individually, while other students work with partners. Small groups are pulled with teachers for students who need that extra push.
