Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright preschoolers and kindergartners with special needs. They are three to five years old with different disabilities including Autism, speech or language impairment, health impairment, Cerebral Palsy, and visually impairment.
My students are from low-income families and almost all are English language learners.
Some have just arrived in the United States from Mexico with parents who do not speak English. Despite the many challenges they face, they come ready each day to learn and play with the most positive attitudes.
It has been a true blessing to watch my students learn and grow. Their determination and eagerness to learn are what fuels me. These young scholars amaze me every single day with their big hearts! A day in our classroom consists of enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. Every accomplishment, big or small, is celebrated!
My Project
My students are quite the creative bunch! All my students have speech or language deficits, but they love to express themselves through art. As an early childhood educator, I will always try my best to provide plenty of opportunities and resources to enrich my students’ experience in school. The materials I am requesting will help my students create unique and beautiful masterpieces in the classroom. These materials will be used during small group activities and in our art center as a choice during free play.
Each day, I incorporate "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" into my teaching.
My students learn about valuing each other's differences, listening to each other's ideas, and acting responsibly. Through art, my students will work together, learning about tolerance and acceptance of each other. The art materials in this project include glue, paper, pom poms, sequins, buttons, gemstones, and paint brushes . These materials will surely make my preschoolers happy and engaged as they craft their own art projects! They will have so much fun while encouraging language and fine motor development.
In addition to promoting creativity through art, my students will learn colors, shapes, counting, and so much more! I look forward to many hours of fun we will have together.
Thank you for your support in bringing this project to life for these amazing kids!
