"Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world." - Maria Montessori.
I teach first, second, and third graders in an urban public Montessori school.
They are curious learners that work and learn from each other! Through the prepared environment, the students use materials to gain understanding and move to abstraction. They learn from each other and challenge each other to be the best they can be.
Our school zone includes the local shelter. We have multiple families who are struggling to meet their basic needs. The classroom is a safe, consistent place for them to come and be a part of our school family. As a teacher, my hope is that they become confident in who they are and free to question, explore, and understand this world we live in.
I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching in my classroom. I have updated sections of the bulletin boards in each area since then. The materials for this project will allow me to create an attractive background to my classroom through-out all areas. The natural fade-less paper will enhance a beautiful environment encouraged in Montessori classrooms. The boarders and natural baskets will provide a cohesive look to the classroom.
"The child should live in an environment of beauty." ~Maria Monessori
