My school is one of the most truly diverse public schools in New Orleans and provides a real reflection of the city and its people. Our school offers the Montessori program. We free the child's potential and aim for lasting peace and a love for learning.
My classroom is unique; it is an all kindergarten version of an early childhood Montessori classroom.
However, I am AMS Early Childhood certified and incorporate and use as much of the Montessori practices and ideology as possible. We have practical life, sensorial, language/reading, math, geography, and cultural studies areas in the classroom. During work time, the students are free to choose and receive lessons in all areas.
Ms. J is my fabulous TA, and we are a community above all, respecting and taking care of one another. Our students' curiosity is bursting at the seams, and, luckily, we are encouraged as teachers to invest in our students' interests.
My Project
These Prekindergarten and kindergarten students deserve to start the school year off right! This project includes a gorgeous cubbie storage unit . This organizational station will help students gain a sense of order, concentration, coordination and independence.
Art, writing & practical materials can now be stored away in this durable naturally finished birch storage cubbie.
The bins will store fine and gross motor skill materials that support early development and help with handwriting and writing. Having an organized classroom including a new durable, beautiful cubbie storage unit can allow these little ones to have all they need to start the year off right.
