Help me give my students everything they could ever dream to read and more. They deserve to explore a world of literature that will challenge their thinking and open the doors to new possibilities.

My 4th and 5th-grade students are young, eager, and intelligent scholars. They love to explore their own thinking, ask questions, and imagine what the world has to offer through the use of graphic novels, biographies, poetry, and so much more. My students have worked hard to grow their love for reading, however, they are not often exposed to the best texts that capture their interest.
In order to do that, they need a classroom library with a variety of books that are on their level and of THEIR interest.
"I enjoy reading poetry, but I don't have many options. Personally, I would like some new books but we don't have many opportunities to get new poetry books. I would like books that represent and reflect who I am, that have black people in them, are created by black authors, drawings by black illustrators. That would be nice."
-4th Grade Student
My students deserve access to high-quality and diverse books that reflect their own experiences. Please support my 4th and 5th graders as they work hard on their journey to high school, college, and beyond.
Our classroom library theme is "Read Like a Champion Today," and students fall in love with "filling out medals." Each medal represents a book they have read independently. In addition to the many hours' students spend with eyes on a text in class each day, my students commit to reading their independent reading books each night for at least 20 minutes. They take pride in being able to display their completion of a book through the medal that is posted in our library.
Students can only fill out medals, however, if they have access to high-quality, diverse books in our classroom library.
The students love to track their medals throughout the year to compete against themselves to see how many amazing new books they can read.
