Beating Bullies Through Civil Rights And Diversity Education
My students need a variety of books to learn about different cultures, and materials such as a globe and a world game to promote diversity and prevent bullying.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are on a mission to terminate bullying in our classroom. We need to celebrate diversity and reduce bullying by reading a variety of books about different cultures to promote understanding of differences.
My students attend an inner-city Title I school.
They often push boundaries and don't realize when they have gone too far. They end up unintentionally hurting each others' feelings because their "playing" gets out of hand. Some of my students don't understand that some of their behavior towards others is unkind and can be considered bullying.
My Project
The Bullying in Schools book will be a resource that will help students learn how to become strong individuals who stands up for what is right.
I am also requesting a collection of books about different cultures to teach that diversity is a value and a learning tool. I want my students to learn about people who have beliefs different from their own. This will help students learn that we should celebrate our differences and exercise tolerance. With the globe and world game we will make connections between the books and the hands-on materials.
My goal is to provide students with a safe and nurturing environment.
By creating a classroom free of bullies and welcoming of diversity, students can focus on their education while knowing that they are accepted for who they are. Please help me accomplish this goal!
