Future leaders developing citizenship, healthy life styles, responsibility and accountability. I teach freshmen through seniors enrolled in the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. Many of these young folks have aspirations of either enlisting in one of the services after graduation, or continuing their education in college with a ROTC scholarship or service academy appointment. All of these goals require them to be in good physical condition.

The students receive PE credit if they complete 2 years of NJROTC. We do not have access to the gym because it is already occupied by the regular PE classes. The NJROTC classes are held in portables. We have to take the students outside to do physical training. Moisture on the ground and ants often make the training pretty uncomfortable when they do sit-ups and push-ups.

We need mats to exercise on. We can make the PT a little more comfortable and inspire them to PT a little harder. The physical training they perform will help students applying for a service academy pass the physical fitness assessment that is required for admission.

Many of these students will go on to be leaders in our armed services. Please help with this simple request that will enhance their fitness to lead and to serve.
