I currently teach 4th Grade in an extremely high poverty area. 100% of our school receives free breakfast and lunch daily. I teach ELA to two different classes. One of the classes is an inclusion class, meaning I have six special education students mixed in with my regular ed students. These students have all different needs from flexible seating to having everything read aloud to them. 4th graders are so much fun and they love learning!
"Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning."
My Project
This project is being used to provide games and more flexible seating for my students. I have ESOL students along with students with academic disabilities. This is the first year I have used flexible seating in my classroom and my students LOVE it! I never dreamed it would make them so engaged in reading. They are always begging to have more!
“I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted.
Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.” – Roald Dahl
