My Students

Our school is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which is the third largest district in Wisconsin. We are a community of diverse learners with a range of academic, social, and economic backgrounds. Our school has recently been identified as a Title I school.

In my second grade classroom, we are a tight-knit family.

My students are enthusiastic learners who thrive when being faced with a challenge! Our classroom emphasizes: Respect for self/others, collaborative learning, divergent thinking, teamwork, and differentiated learning. In our classroom- Everyone is LOVED. Everyone is VALUED, and everyone is celebrated for their HARD WORK and PERSEVERANCE.

My Project

Flexible seating options activate student engagement! I am a firm believer in keeping students as the main focus in every educational decision that is made. If student engagement is the main goal, then we as teachers must adapt with our students in our classrooms.

Beanbags provide a perfect space for my second graders to go on a reading adventure, complete their work in a relaxed place, and to calm their bodies when they are feeling anxiety.

Students need opportunities to feel comfortable in their learning space. Giving them options for where they can sit to do their work increases their motivation to put forth their best effort.
