I am amazed every morning when I open the classroom door for my students at how ready they are to learn. I love seeing my students fired up on Monday morning, hands flying up in the air whenever a question is asked. Third grade is truly a blast with these kiddos!
When I first opened the door and met my students for the first time during Meet and Greet, I was surprised at how independent and social my kiddos seemed to be.
I really had to ask myself, "of all the 3rd grade classrooms in my school, did I get all the hard workers?" My students work so hard to be engaged and support one another in learning. The 26 students in my class, while very diverse, have worked with me to create such a welcoming, accepting learning environment. When a student is absent for a day, the whole class is so quick to inform them of what they missed out on when they return to school. I couldn't have asked for a better third grade class.
My Project
This year, my third graders and I transitioned our classroom into a fidget seating paradise! Currently we have several wobbly stools, lowered desks, and a bench for seating choices. My students voted on what items they would like to add to our classroom flexible seating options, and we came up with three bean bags and a set of bouncy bands for the chairs.
My students have a variety of behavioral and emotional needs that need to be met throughout the day.
My students would greatly benefit from having new beanbag chairs and bouncy bands to use at their choosing. Learning how to manage their emotions and regulate their behaviors are beneficial. My students often need time away from other students and stimuli to help regroup their emotions. These chairs are easy to wipe clean and are comfy for the kids when needed. Please help us achieve our next goal of adding to our flexible seating options. Thank you!
