We desire to empower the hearts and minds of the young generation to avoid taking part or tolerating bullying behavior when observed. Our mission we choose to accept, shall be the acronym BULLYING: Be Unique! Live, Laugh, Yearn, Influence the Next Generation.
Our school is a math and science academy (Pre-K-5th Grade) located in a high-need community in the public sector where at least 95% of the student population is eligible for free or reduced lunch.
We encounter students with emotional as well as behavioral challenges which often impair their ability to reach their potential.
By definition, bullying is a form of aggressive behavior manifested by the use of force or coercion to affect others, particularly when the behavior is habitual and involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can occur in any context in which human beings interact with each other. This includes school, church, family, the workplace, home, and neighborhoods. The cruel reality, bullying is prevalent among our young generation. The film "Bully" aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole. We especially want to join this collaborative campaign focused on fostering sustainable bullying prevention by working to improve our school climate and promote caring, inclusive individuals who emphasize respect for all.
Your generous support will enable our students to get involved in this powerful movement.
The impact of the film and follow-up discussions will nurture compassion and empathy against bullying. IT IS TIME WE TAKE A STAND!
