Help me give my students the materials to create blankets for local nursing home residents that need a little love and TLC. With this fabric we can create 8-10 blankets to deliver to our local nursing home.
My students are special because they all have special abilities. I teach the severe and profoundly disabled students at the high school level. We are commonly known as the self-contained classroom. I currently have autistic students, nonverbal students and cerebral palsy students in my classroom. All of my students are precious to me. We live in a rural area and we do not have a lot of money available to update technology in our classroom. We are always looking for new ways to improve our technology and resources to teach these children essential life skills that will follow them after high school. Our other special education classroom in my department is the OCS program, or Occupational Course of Study, where students learn real work skills in order to obtain a job after high school because their disability limits their choices after high school. In order to give them real work skills, we need to have real-life resources to teach them with.
My Project
At our school we have adopted the motto "Be the Good". There is good in the world and we want to show how our school can be the good in our community. My class along with another classroom in my school would like to create No Sew Fleece Blankets to deliver to our local nursing home for residents and do some good in our community. The materials for our blankets are not cheap and we need help in funding our "be the good" project. We will make the blankets in class at school and deliver them once they are completed.
