Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was liked to be picked on in school? Well, we are changing that at our school! We started an anti-bullying movement called Peace Builder and I want to educate my class in this practice.
My students are mainly English language learners, which means they are visual learners.
My students have language barriers and parents that have difficulty teaching them these necessary skills in life. I want to make sure that they are taught why bullying is definitely wrong and how they should handle situations if they arise.
My Project
I have requested a set of bullying books and a book on how to prevent cyber bullying and what that entails. I have also requested an iPod Touch to teach how to use technology and proper net etiquette. I plan to distribute a copy of Bullying in Schools to every student so that we can read as a class. I am going to read to the class Bullying in Schools and Cyber Bullying in order to teach them how to prevent bullying at their school and online as well. We are also going to download additional books on bullying to our iPod Touch and continue educating our students on why bullying is wrong, how to avoid bullying, and what to do when we witness someone being bullied.
My project is so important because not only will these books help them at school to handle bullies, but it will change the community in which they live.
We have an excessive bullying problem at my school and I want to educate them on a better way to live and a better way to treat their neighbors in the community and online. My students will learn how to handle situations on bullying and instead of fighting or allowing someone to bully them, they will know it's okay to tell their teacher.
