As a first grade teacher, it is a joy to come to work everyday and see the bright, shining faces of my students. They are excited and motivated by the new things they take in daily. They enjoy solving problems and being creative thinkers. My students are inquisitive, eager, creative, and would benefit from "out of the box" learning opportunities.
The students at our school love being here and greet staff and each other with smiles and hugs every morning.

My Project
I want my students to leave first grade being the best students they can be. I want them to be good kids that love school but also treat others with kindness and respect. These books will be used to teach social skills. Students need math, reading, and writing taught to them daily but they also need to be taught social skills on a regular basis. Each and every one of these books touches on different social aspects that my students will encounter. For example, in My Mouth is a Volcano, the students will learn about controlling blurting out. We will discuss teamwork, bullying, and so many other really important social skills. I want them to be the best kids they can be! The futon, ottoman, and carpet requested will aid in our classroom set up where I am creating a "family feel" for our social emotional initiative bringing us together to work collaboratively.
