Help me give my students the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. By providing these method books they will be able to learn how to play a musical instrument, a skill that will last a lifetime!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a school in North Carolina where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. They are provided with a snack fridge in the hallways that they can select from during class change times. My students come from various backgrounds and have suffered many hardships in their short lives. They struggle with learning right from wrong and how to properly show support to one another. With so many challenges they still come to class eager to learn.
My Project
My students love to play their instruments and need new method books to learn their skills. We have a growing band and students are having to share materials. With new method books students will have their own supplies and be able to take the supplies home to practice.
When each students has their own book to use all students have an equal opportunity to learn and progress and take ownership of their learning.
Students will use the books during class and will be able to take them home to continuing practicing and perfect their skill. Many students love to play in the band but sharing supplies can get frustrating. Most students cannot afford the supplies on their own so I need enough supplies for every student so they do not have to share.
