My students need to have backpacks to keep their basic needs, such as school supplies, met when they start the school year to help increase overall school pride, raise academic achievement, and build stronger connections with both students and teachers.

My Students

Resilient, brave, kind, motivated.

About 25% of our students come from families who face financial challenges.

These students, however, compete very bravely and gracefully in a competitive academic environment, despite not having all the necessary tools and resources as their classmates. They may not have adequate food, warm clothing, and/ or school supplies. Many of these students also have significant responsibilities at home which may further impact their school performance and involvement. Education is strongly valued by these families, however, and these students work hard and do the best they can to achieve their goals. I admire their dedication to education and their daily resilience.

My Project

All students need some basic school supplies to kick off the school year. Filling backpacks with school supplies and spirit wear will enhance the school experience for students. Students need to be on equal footing with their peers to compete in an academic setting.

They will feel more confident and more socially-emotionally sound when they have similar tangible objects that their peers have.

These feelings will most likely translate for the students to an increased investment in the learning process, increased academic achievement and a stronger school connection.

Purchasing quality backpacks is a smart investment that will last students for multiple years.
