I am a special education teacher in a pediatric Hospital School setting. My students vary from pre-k to 8th grade. My students suffer from an assortment of ailments which hinder them from attending tradition schooling and programs. My students are exuberant, inquisitive and curious! My students love hands-on, interactive activities that challenge and interest them! I try my best to create activities that pique interest and have them wanting more! My students love when it is time for school and I would like to further encourage that excitement!
My Project
The materials and electronics that I am asking for will not only provide fun interactive instruction, they will also help to assist many of my nonverbal and non-ambulatory students. These tools are not available to me through my district, therefore, I am asking for your help! Many of my students that have difficulty communicating will benefit greatly from an iPad. The iPad can make them feel more actively engaged from their hospital room! The hot dots are lively and enjoyable! The hot dots are a great tool to use as an entry point when first entering the hospital rooms. Both items will be highly favorable in this unique setting because they can be wiped down and sanitized to prevent further illness and infection.
Pay it forward with kindness and give a voice to the voiceless!
These children receive daily treatments from a wide range of medical vendors such as doctors, nurses, specialist, occupational therapists, physical therapists and social workers. They have been through so much and look forward to school instruction as their outlet!
I have worked hard to try and create a warm, welcoming environment with minimal interruption for these precious learners! Please help to bring a smile to the faces of these little warriors!
