Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first grade students are so sweet that they don't know how not to be in your personal space. My first graders are very energetic and love to dance and sing. They love to show each other their dance moves. My students love learning about what is happening in their lives outside of school during class meeting. We gather together in the morning and throughout the day in the front of the room to share about what has happened and what is going to happen that day.

We need bags to securely carry the books we are learning how to read from school to home and back again.

I also need a station cart to organize the books we use in guided reading. Students need to learn to be responsible for their books and have a safe place for them. I need a place to organize their learning tools we use in reading small groups. I want students to take ownership of their learning.

My Project

Many of my students struggle to be organized with their learning tools. My cart will help me model organization with our class learning materials. The students will use their reading bags at our reading table and be able to have a sharpened pencil whenever their pencil is not sharp enough for them to use.

My students need a special place for their independent reading books.

The zipper file bags are very sturdy. The electric pencil sharpener will provide pencils to build responsible citizens who want to read and write. I want my students to sharpen their reading and writing comprehension.
