Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love helping kids reach towards their potential. In the after school program I direct, we learn all about being healthy and fit. I take the kids out on runs each week. We also play games like soccer, flag football, basketball, and other running games.
I have the honor to teach at a middle school with over 1200 students.
I work with as little as 6 students and as many as 180 students in an after school sports program at my school. My students are typically very eager and don't mind setting goals and having their goals achieved. They are kids who are hard working and eager to please. Sometimes I feel like I learn more from them than they learn from me.
My Project
I am thrilled to have kids come to me eager and excited to learn the sport of running. I am equally eager to share the love of running with them. I would love to put into their hands a watch and heart rate monitor that would show them their pace, heart rate, distance, calorie count, and much more. I know that this equipment will help many of my students reach their full potential.
I know my project will make a huge difference in the lives of my students.
Being able to track their times, pace and other measurements will be of great value to them. My students are going to be so excited to know their exact distance they have ran. They will begin to understand how important their pace is to their run. They will even see a map of where they ran. I am sure this will greatly motivate them to continue their love of running.
