My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching 30, wonderful sixth graders in California! My students are from very diverse backgrounds. Some students are first-generation Americans from India, Fiji, China, Japan, El Salvador, or Indonesia. My students work very hard and put a lot of pressure on themselves to excel academically.

My challenge, as their teacher, is to foster empathy, kindness, and a life-long love for learning, as well as prepare them to be career and college-ready.

We celebrate mistakes as opportunities to learn in our classroom community. We work together to build relationships and trust with each other.

My Project

As we return to the classroom from winter break, it is important to restore and reinforce a clean and safe learning environment for all learners. It is also equally important for every voice to be heard and recognized. While wearing masks and sanitizing our hands and common areas is an absolute necessity, it does pose quite a challenge to our daily routines and procedures. Students often struggle to hear themselves speak clearly through the masks, which can hinder their participation and engagement, as well as understanding.

A brand new wireless speaker with a wireless microphone and a wireless headset to amplify my students' voices would be an excellent addition to our classroom!

Our current classroom speakers are wired and of very poor quality. The speakers are connected to my provided laptop and do not allow sound to equitably distributed throughout the classroom. A new wireless sound system would allow for drastically improved sound quality and amplify student and teachers voices, in the classroom and outdoors! It truly would open up doors for our learners!

As COVID-19 variants continue to rise, we are in need of some colorful masks to keep students motivated to keep them fully placed over noses and mouths. We are frequently sanitizing our hands and our desk areas. We are supplied with a very modest allowance of sanitizer and wipes for our classrooms and are constantly in need of more sanitizing supplies. Having two touchless sanitizing stations would save a lot of time transitioning in and out of the classroom, as well as provide a safer option than a manual hand pump. Please help us be clean and heard the rest of the school year!
