My students need Botley the Coding Robot and activity sets to begin learning how to code and meet 21st Century Leanring Skills. Students who learn coding at an early age are better prepared for the future.
Student engagement in language arts can be challenging. I am always looking for ways to boost reading, writing, and listening skills in a fun and creative manner. Kids love to visit the library for free time! ACRL report shows that library use increases student success.
In addition to information instruction, I strive to provide a welcoming and fun environment where students can spend class and free time.
With the 2016-2017 school year, our school made the change from a third-fifth grade school to a K-fifth grade school. We service roughly 450 students. We also became a STEAM academy and are incorporating STEAM activities with literacy for all ages by providing Makerspaces and Centers in the Library. We strive to keep up with the newest ways to engage students with 21st Century concepts.
My Project
Botley the Coding Robot will introduce and grow coding skills to our earliest learners.
Coding helps children with communication, creativity, math, writing, and confidence.
Botley is a robot that grows with students' coding skills. From basic navigational functions to advanced features that will get him through obstacle courses, direct him down pathways made from black lines, and allow him to detect objects, this little robot does it all.
Coding helps foster creative problem solving and thinking skills as well as promote social and communication skills. Students will be able to explore coding with Botley the Coding Robot in library centers.
