Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? My students are amazing! They are amazing PreK students! They like to move, they love to read and they love lots of positive attention. They all face personal struggles. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. They want to succeed and be kindergarten ready! They deserve the best education money can buy. The vision at our school is to create a multicultural community that will prepare and educate ALL students to be self-motivated, independent, lifelong learners who are leaders impacting change for themselves, their families, and their communities.
My Project
I have an extremely small budget for classroom supplies. My students participate in so many daily creative projects. I am asking for basics like paint, glue, different types of art paper, and pastels. We will use these materials many ways. We will teach students how to appreciate materials and use them correctly. We will experiment with the different ways we can use the pastels and paint on different types of materials. Students will express themselves through art!
Our class loves to create our own books.
With the Swingline GBC CoBindMate, our class is so excited to take our books to the next level! We will illustrate and write our own stories! The student will get to have their books laminated and bound. The students will also use the paint and pastels to illustrate the pictures for the books. The students will see their own ideas "published" and feel like professional authors and illustrators. They will be able to view and keep their work for years to come.
Without the help of generous donors, we can not afford even the most basic supplies. Please help my students get the supplies they need for a successful art program.
