Our school is in Danville, California. In our classroom, we study all academic areas. Students are engaged in whole group discussions, small group work, and partner projects. My students are inquisitive, love writing, and working in small groups. They especially enjoy having the power to move about the room and choose where they do their work.
Today's classrooms have transformed from the traditional desk and chair settings.
Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to work where they will stay calm, focused and productive.
Children need to move. Flexible seating allows my students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
My students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows for students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed depending on the project or assignment.
Providing students with different seating opportunities while working can lead to more focused work environment .
With the Surf Portable Lap Desk/Laptop Stand/Writing Table students will be provided with alternative seating to work on projects. They could be used for writing, math, and while using Chromebooks, just to name a few example of working situations in the classroom. With the stools, children are provided with a different seating option in addition to traditional classroom chairs.
