Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? I believe that good readers are born through a love for reading.
My students are Seventh graders at an urban school and some are bilingual students who are also learning the English language.
Having a TESOL program in my school leads to a very diverse educational setting. My diverse students are funny, smart, and deserve the opportunity to read the books they love.
My Project
I am continuing to add to my classroom library. We participate in the Accelerated Reading program and students want to find a book they love. This project will help to put books in the hands of students who may not yet have found their love for reading. This project will help to foster this and give them an opportunity to read the books they love in their own classroom.
I believe in my kids.
I believe that they deserve to have materials and books that will inspire and engage them. As an inner city teacher, I find that I have to provide a lot of basic supplies that otherwise my students may go without, I want them to see that others believe in them as well and they can reach any goal they set!
