My students need 30 copies of the book "Bullying in Schools". We would also like to have an e-reader to access supplemental resources and books about anti-bullying.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." --- Albert Einstein
My fourth grade students deal with the issue of bullying everyday. Our classroom has taken a proactive approach of promoting being a peer advocate.
My students are inquisitive and have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
However, many of them need the guidance to make better social judgments.
My students attend a Title I school, in which 100% of the population qualifies for the free lunch program. Although many have a stable and supportive home, a large majority live in government housing programs. My fourth grade students come from various types of home environments. Some have excellent role models at home, while others do not.
My students have to deal with bullying on a day to day basis. Although physical bullying is not as common, it does occur. The more common types of bullying that pose as an obstacle to my students are social and verbal bullying. Although my students feel safe and secure within our school grounds, I have a few who are not comfortable in the schoolyard. I also have students who prefer to stay in at recess and "help me" than have to deal with the social bullying that goes on outside the classroom.
My Project
I would like to better educate my students about what bullying is, and how they have the power to eliminate bullying through their judgments and actions. I would like to teach them about being a Peer Advocate, and standing up for others. I want them to understand that there are other ways of coping with fear, guilt and shame other than making somebody else feel miserable. I hope that the copies of the book Bullying in Schools will provide my students with different strategies to combat bullying. I also hope that they will realize the importance we are placing on the issue of bullying. I want them to know that the rest of us care about what they go through socially in school. I would also like for them to be able to research statics and videos about bullying and anti-bullying programs. The Kindle e-reader will allow my students access to these additional resources. They can also use it to access additional literature on bullying through e-books.
Your donation will make a world of difference to my fourth graders.
It will allow them the opportunity to learn how to make their school environment a more comfortable and friendlier place. Help us become a peer advocate, by reaching out, standing up, and being a friend.
