My students are very curious and energetic.
They are ecstatic and passionate about learning, just as I am about teaching them.
I teach in a Title I school, where about 90% percent of my students are English Language Learners and come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Ninety-five percent of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

Bullying can threaten a student's physical and emotional safety at school and can negatively impact their ability to learn.
These days, bullying is becoming more and more frequent among today’s youth in school and online.
As a kindergarten teacher, I believe the best way to address bullying is to “stop it before it starts.” Educating my students early and addressing the negative effect of bullying can help prevent bullying from occurring in my students' future.
I plan to create “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” thematic unit for my kindergartners filled with hands-on lessons, videos, books/stories and collaborative discussions about kindness and how to be a buddy/friend. And most of all, to encourage them to not be afraid to stand up when they see someone being bullied.
I am requesting books "Bully B.E.A.N.S.", "The Juice Box Bully: Empowering Kids to Stand Up for Others" and a color printer. These items will help my students create their own digital storytelling about how to be a good kind person so they can help educate others to be kind and be bully free. I plan to read the books and have my students use the color printer to print out images and pictures to create posters and videos of different scenarios on how to be a buddy and not a bully for other classmates and students at our school to see.
