My students are rural students who love to be up and moving in the classroom, using technology/media when learning, being acknowledged for their achievements (great or small), and interacting with each other in positive ways. I am a school counselor that travels between two small schools serving all students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. They come to me as a whole class for 30-45 minutes each week. Some students also come to me for individual and small group instruction.
My students learn about tolerance, acceptance, careers, leadership, and academic success.
My Project
A bucket filler is someone who encourages others through their kindness. When we fill someone else's bucket with kindness we are also filling our own imaginary bucket with happiness. When we are unkind to others not only are we dipping or taking out of their imaginary emotional bucket, we are making a withdrawal from our own happiness.
These books, posters, music cd, collapsible buckets, and coloring books will be used to teach students in kindergarten and first grades about the concept of bucket dipping and filling as a concrete way to describe emotions and social interactions.
I would like to use the a to z resources with the kindergarten students in weekly classroom counseling class and the more in depth books with the first graders
