I teach a wide variety of 10th grade students. Some know already that they are college-bound, while others struggle to read at a middle school level. The common factor is reading. All of them would benefit from reading more than they currently do each day. EHS is implementing a program where students will read for the first 10-15 minutes of class each day. This will absolutely benefit all of my students, no matter what their reading level is.
After thirteen years as a teacher, my classroom library has unfortunately dwindled down and needs to be replenished.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'd like my students to have access to a variety of novels in the classroom. Students will spend the first ten minutes of each class period reading. This will help them to become better readers and put them on the right track to graduate high school. By having access to these novels, students will always have a book on hand to read. This, in turn, will make them more proficient readers.
It isn't always easy for students to go to the library, so having these novels on hand will give them the opportunity to read whenever they have free time.
I truly believe that students that read become better writers and critical thinkers. Please think about supporting this request for a classroom library.
