Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at our school have chosen to actively participate in the Book Club to compete against other students at other schools. These children have been selected to participate as an elite member in the Battle of the Books competition representing SASHE! Due to their high achieving scores on reading comprehension that contains rigorous text and interest and love in reading, they will be competing in the 2019 Battle of the Books Competition on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Being selected to participate in this prestigious event is not only a great honor, but an opportunity to interact with a diverse group of students across all our campuses.
My Project
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd through 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. These books will allow the students to participate in the 2019 Battle of the Books. The books are needed in order for the students to read them, discuss them, and comprehend them. It will also help extend their joy of reading and learning. The students will also be able to share their experiences with other students around the school to spread the love of literacy!
