As an educator entering my 10th year of service, I am beginning a new chapter of my career as an elementary librarian. I consider it one of my life's greatest blessings to be able to work alongside the best student scholars and educators in the country! BCES is committed to providing its students with all of the resources that are needed to engage students in rigorous, dynamic and inspirational instructional activities. There may be times when we do not have what we need, but we have taken on the "We can't yet..." not a "We can't..." attitude. My Project
Every year our district hosts a Battle of the Books competition. It is the responsibility of the school or students to provide the books needed. With a minimal working budget, it becomes very difficult for the library to provide the books needed for such a large group of students to read.
The Battle of the Books challenges students to read from a variety of genres and exposes them to great literature.
Often avid readers are born from this program.
Your donation will allow my students the opportunity to read these books and compete at the district level. At the end of the program, these books get added to the library collection for circulation. They are often very popular once students start talking about them. This allows the project to continue helping students beyond the competition.
