My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We collectively have 26 different languages spoken by our student body. It is absolutely amazing how accepting our students are of each other. They are also very eager to learn about the other cultures we have represented in our classroom. Our entire school is full of unique and very talented individuals.
I have the privilege of instructing and inspiring a wonderfully caring group of students this year.
They have had their challenging moments but that makes the breakthroughs even more rewarding.
My Project
Battle of the Books (BOB) is a reading incentive program. Students read from a list of 10 books. They will meet virtually in groups of five to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read through a friendly competition. The winning team from our school will compete virtually against other area schools.
Battle of the Books really fuels the competitive reading fire at my school.
Our goal is to bring the trophy home again this year. In order to do that, we need several copies of the BOB books for our students to read, analyze, and dissect.
Besides comprehension, this program teaches students sportsmanship, collaboration, creative thinking, and problem solving skills. We would appreciate any support you can give us and our students!
