This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are excited to learn and explore new areas in all their classes. They come from the inner city with many challenges in their neighborhoods and homes to overcome. Some of the students travel to school by car, or by public transportation. Many walk to school with schoolmates and family members.
These students are very talented and eager to broaden their knowledge of music and the arts.
They come ready to learn and grow to a college and career level of performance. They are open to all new and different musical experiences that come their way. They desire to learn more and develop their skills to a level that can compete and soar in the 21st century.
My Project
The instruments and materials I am requesting will be put to use immediately. We are currently serving 3 band sections (70 - 90 students) with a set of 30 instruments. The out of school practice time will become a reality for all of the band students.
With the new band instruments, my students will grow individually in their playing skills and in their performance as a music ensemble.
As their skill increases so will their confidence, discipline and appreciation of music. These additional resources will add to the quality of the school's music program and the school's respect in the music education community.
