This will be my first year teaching, and as a new teacher, I want to give my students the best learning opportunity possible. My students have already progressed immensely with their positive attitudes and drive to learn every day! We will make sure to carry this throughout the school year. My school is located near Detroit, Michigan and 100% of the students come from low income families. All of the students in the school are entitled to free breakfast and lunch.
Whatever I am given, I will ensure to make my students have a safe, caring, and loving learning environment.
Our kindergarten class is learning the letters and sounds of the alphabet. I always like to make the letter they are learning engaging and an object they will remember.
Having these sports objects will make them engaged in learning their letters and sounds.
For the letter B they will associate baseball. I want the students to have baseballs and bats that we can go outside and play with while working on the letter B. They would then say the B sound every time they hit the ball.
For the letter F, I would like them to associate the word football. We would use the footballs with a partner and say the F sound every time we threw the ball.
Lastly, for the letter K, I want the students to each get their own kite that they will be able to fly. The students then would associate the letter K with a kite and would be able to run around outside flying it.
I think having these engaging activities outdoors is a good way to collaborate sports and learning and I know my students would have a blast!
