This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students come to school happy, energetic and ready to start the day. My students love school, learning new things and exploring their environment. They are an awesome group of students despite their disabilities with communication. I teach severe and profound, intellectually delayed students.
Most of my students come from low income families.
Our school is a Title One school with grades pre-k through fifth. My school is a nurturing and caring environment. The staff members and students interact and embrace my students daily.
My Project
We use lots and lots of batteries because we have to use sensory and adaptive equipment that requires lots of batteries. It is important that batteries are always available. The equipment help my students communicate because they are all non verbal. When batteries die in the equipment, I have to wait for an assistive technology specialist to bring batteries or I have to buy them myself. It's becoming very expensive to keep up with the amount of batteries needed. The equipment is needed daily for my students, because the assistive technology is the only voice they have. Help me help my students.
