At our public charter school, string study begins in the fourth grade through an exploratory class. Daily orchestra is available in junior and senior high. My orchestra scholars are an eager and diverse crew; they are dedicated to improving their musicianship and collaborate well together. It is a great pleasure and responsibility to guide them as they seek to become musicians of the highest order.
My students attend a school where hard work is the norm, and there is a daily challenge to be the best version of themselves .
This will be the fourth year for our school and my orchestra program. As the program has grown, the the ability to offer bass instruction has also increased. My bass students are in need of adjustable bass stools in order to improve their posture and reduce fatigue as they learn this foundational instrument.
My Project
The size of the double bass presents many challenges to the beginning string player. Learning proper technique and also developing the correct balance for standing while playing is both complex and fatiguing. Stools are often used to promote correct position and promote ease of playing so I am asking for four stools.
A tired bass player will not be a successful bass player; the use of an adjustable stool will provide additional physical support so that the technical needs of the left and right hand can be addressed.
The ability to change the height of the stool is beneficial to students of all sizes and greatly increases their chances to become proficient bass players.
