My Students

I teach orchestra to 4th and 5th graders in two Title 1 elementary schools. These students come from all different walks of life and cultures to make music together! Being in orchestra gives many of these students an opportunity they wouldn't normally have. Music has so many benefits, and it's an experience these students truly deserve!

My Project

Playing the bass is already a challenge for a small 4th or 5th grader. It's bigger than most of them! Due to the size of the bass, students aren't able to sit in a regular chair like the rest of their orchestra peers.

Having stools for each of our bass players will give them a more comfortable and productive learning experience.

Instead of having to balance and and keep their bass steady will standing, they will be able to support the bass with their leg while sitting on the stool.

I have observed bass students in other orchestra classrooms using stools and was impressed by how much easier it was! I want to give my students that same experience.
