My students need a place for all our library books.
We are the Frog-tastic Firsties. One thing you should know about us is that we love to read.
The Frog-tastic Firsties are a community of learners.
We live in a large urban area. Our neighborhood is very diverse. There are at least 20 different languages spoken in our school. We love coming to school and it shows because we have the best attendance in the school. The main reason we love school is that we can read, read, read.
Luckily, our teacher has been able to build our classroom library over the years. We have a lot of books, all at different levels and different genres (we know what that word means - just ask us). The books are organized by genre (with labels and stickers) in plastic book baskets. This allows us to choose independent reading books that spark our interest, but also that we can read and comprehend by ourselves. It also allows us to be responsible with these important books by knowing where to return the books so that our friends can read the books too.
Unfortunately, the book baskets and the labels have seen better days. They are quite old. Many of them are torn or have holes in them. Basically, they are falling apart. They have been wonderful homes for our favorite books, but it's time to find new homes. With new book baskets and labels, we will be able to keep our classroom library organized so that we can find the books we are looking for.
These book baskets and labels will help us save our beautiful classroom library we love so much.
We want to keep our library organized so that we can learn the responsibility of taking care of the books and our library. We want to continue the ability to go "shopping" each week for new books.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
