My students are energetic, eager to learn, and enthusiastic first graders. First grade is so much fun to teach because my students are beginning their journey of becoming life long readers! Their progress from September to June is uncanny. The confidence they gain and watching them find books that they are interested in and able to read independently is so rewarding.
My students learn about and practice picking "good fit" books every day.
They have access to a large amount of books in our classroom. My students work hard to take care of their classroom books and to keep our library organized. I enjoy watching them find characters and series that they love and can share with each other. Helping my students become readers who enjoy books is one of my greatest accomplishments.
My Project
By providing my students with new baskets for our classroom library, I am helping them to organize their reading materials, access books quickly, and find books with ease. When learning to read, searching for books is a difficult task. Being able to organize the classroom books so that they are easily accessible and easy to find is crucial for my students. We need book bins that are strong, durable, and good quality. My students handle these baskets multiple times a day. We have gone through poorly made baskets in the past, rather quickly, because of how much they are used. Your donation will help my students see how valued reading is by everyone in the world, not just them and their teacher. Your support will help my students access their classroom library with ease and remind them that others in the world are supporting them in their journey as life long readers!
