This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the heart of Jefferson County, Mississippi. Our town has no industry and very few employment opportunities. My students live in a poverty stricken area and 100 percent of them qualify for free lunch. More than three fourths of them live in poverty.Twenty five percent of students are at risk for dropping out of school before they complete high school. These precious children need to learn the basic skills they need to be productive members of society. Job opportunities are very limited in this area and parents struggle to provide basic needs.
Help my students thrive!
These students deserve an education. They desperately need a learning environment in which they can succeed. Help me provide them with a positive learning experience.
My Project
This project is written to inspire young learners through arts and science! Students will love to watch the caterpillars grow into butterflies and release them into the wild. They will never forget this project. Who knows, maybe a scientist will be born.
I cannot wait to watch the children as they become engaged in creating an amazing basket from recycled materials.
Students love to create meaningful art projects. With budget cuts, we do not have an art class at our school. These basket molds will help the students create an art project that they can enjoy for years to come!
