This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All students should be able to practice simultaneously, with out waiting a turn to dribble or shoot. The balls will be useful for certain types of drills and games, and having two sizes will help the small hands be successful.
The students at my school all qualify for Title One Federal funding.
Basketball is the language the boys speak, and is imperative for our gym program. It is an incentive for them to try other sports if they know they will get to play basketball on Friday.
My Project
These balls will enhance our after school boys basketball program, and will help us get a girls team started. The quality of these balls will enable the students to bounce, grip and pass more easily than with our worn, lopsided few balls that we have now. Our students will become accomplished at a game that is played all over our city and help keep them out of jail and off drugs.
These student will be begging to play before school and after school.
The gym program will be greatly enhanced by having more than 3 balls for 500 students. The children will be in a safe environment, and these balls will be securely stored.
