My Students

How can a basketball team practice without basketballs? Our school is located in one of the poorest communities in the area. The coaches volunteer their time because the district does not have the funds to pay them.

We are an inner city school with over 90% of our students receiving free lunches.

Our school has had a co-ed basketball team since 2003 and since then over 300 students have participated in the program. This is an after school activity. The only requirement to be on the team is that each student maintain a 2.0 grade point average. We have gone from a 1-6 team to a strong championship contender each year. Currently we are 3-0 in our division.

My Project

Our basketball team needs new basketballs so that the students can continue to have the necessary equipment for practice. Having an after school program such as this give the students something to do so that they are not tempted to get into trouble. The students on the team practice hard to be the best that they can be not only on the basketball team but in school.

With your generous support the basketball team will be able to continue to practice and to be the best that they can be.

This team gives the students the chance to be successful at a team sport.
