Our boys and girls basketball players are determined and hard working. They put more into learning the game and developing as players more than most. They are all seventh and eighth graders. They are enthusiastic and energetic. We are in a rural area with no outdoor parks or places to play football or basketball except in the school setting.
They want to become better basketball players but do not always have the funds to pay for what they need to improve their skills.
School budgets are spread thin with physical education and athletics the last to receive funding.
My Project
Our boys and girls basketball teams are in need of equipment. Sports is an under-funded part of the education like so many other parts of it. We have to fundraise and work to get much needed equipment and supplies for our teams.
Safe storage of uniforms and players' belongings are always a concern.
We need locking storage cabinets for the girls' team and the boys' teams for their uniform and equipment. The Under Armour Duffle Bags will be used to transport uniforms and gear to away games and to store their belongings in a safe way during games. We want our kids not to have to worry about their personal belongings when we are on the road.
Safety is a priority for us. Our students and coaches work hard during practice and games. They do a great job fundraising during the offseason. Being able to lock items up and keep them safe on the road is priceless. It's tough to tell players the equipment they fundraised for is now gone. This project for basketball helps prevent that form occurring.
